NIDRA

YOGA NIDRA
Yoga Nidra is a transformative practice of deep relaxation and mediative inquiry.  Yoga Nidra is both a science and an art form.  It welcomes your deepest, wisest self to co-participate with the practice, and as a result, the potential lies for the practitioner to feel at peace with who they are, where they are and where they might be heading in life. It’s a subtle yet profound transformation, and one open to absolutely everyone.

HOW TO PRACTICE

Lie comfortably down on your back (supported with props if needed), make a conscious choice not to move, and rest. Your teacher will audibly guide you through the map of your own body and mind, usually for around 35-50minutes. This can be done in a class or by listening to an audio recording.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Through the systematic massaging of each KOSHA layer, the practice draws attention inwards where we learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep (you don't actually sleep-it can be a side effect but it is not the goal). In the state of non-sleep but deep rest the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep awareness. It is here that we  can begin to experience the deeper aspects of yogic teachings such as feeling our inclusiveness and wholeness, not to mention our true nature which is deeply restful and expansive.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Absolutely anyone can practice yoga nidra.  It has immense value for those suffering from sleep deprivation trauma. depression anxiety.

It’s also perfect for those who have been curious about the deeper states of meditation they have perhaps read about or stumbled across but never been able to recreate.
UNDERSTANDING SANKALPA
Encompassing your heart’s desire, encoded destiny, and inner resource (Sankalpa) is perhaps the most transformative aspect of yoga nidra. Sankalpa strengthens the inner will and becomes a directional force towards higher states of evolution. Its like going for a walk and taking a map with you. The map is a guide that directs you towards where you want to go.  Sankalpa is not wishful thinking. It is setting a clear focus and then remaining open for the consciousness to be shaped in a way that reflects that creation. Click HERE to read more.
